A note on this morning's outage
Around 11:30 AM EST this morning, our API became unavailable for a stretch. Here is what happened and what we have done about it.
As our user base has grown, we ran a database migration without setting aside enough resources to handle the added load at the same time. The two together overwhelmed our primary database and took our API services offline.
We have since identified the root cause and put safeguards in place, both in how we run migrations and across our existing ETL infrastructure, so we can keep supporting the high demand now flowing through the API.
I am sorry for the disruption. Moments like this are part of what a public beta looks like, and working through them is how we harden the platform for everyone. Thank you for bearing with us while we build.
